About these terms
These terms apply when you create an account on, or buy anything from, Sociologyzone at sociologyzone.co.uk (the “Site”). You agree to them when you tick the box at checkout. How we handle your personal data is described separately in our Privacy Policy.
What we sell
- Student Subscription— £3.99 a month for online access to every Sociologyzone book, for as long as the subscription runs.
- School Licence— a one-off payment for 12 months of online access to every Sociologyzone book for a whole school, through one shared teacher login and one shared student login.
Books are read online on the Site. They are not supplied as downloadable files. Tutoring enquiries made through the Site are not a purchase; no payment is taken on the Site for tutoring.
Your account
You need an account to use a subscription. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us straight away at hello@sociologyzone.co.uk if you think someone else has used it.
Prices and payment
Prices are in pounds sterling and are the prices shown at checkout. Payments are taken by our payment provider, Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
The monthly Student Subscription
- Your subscription starts when your first payment is taken and renews automatically every month, on the same day of the month. Each renewal is charged to the card you used, or to any card you have since added.
- If a renewal payment fails, we will email you so you can update your card.
- You can cancel at any time from your account: go to Subscription and choose Manage subscription. No further payments are taken, and you keep access until the end of the month you have already paid for.
Invoices and receipts
Your invoices are available in your account dashboard, under Invoices. Every payment you make is listed there — the first payment for a subscription, each monthly renewal, and every one-off purchase — and you can view, print or download each invoice at any time.
We email you a confirmation when you first subscribe or place an order. We do not send an invoice by email for each monthly renewal; those appear in your dashboard instead.
School Licences
- A School Licence lasts 12 months from the date of payment and does not renew automatically. To continue after that, buy a new licence.
- The two shared logins are for teachers and students of the licensed school only. The coordinator who bought the licence can issue new logins at any time from the school dashboard, which stops the old ones working.
Using our materials
All books and other materials on the Site are protected by copyright. Your subscription or licence lets you read them for your own study or, under a School Licence, for teaching and study at the licensed school. You may not copy, download, redistribute, resell or publish them, or share your login with anyone outside what your subscription or licence allows. We may suspend an account that does.
Cancelling and refunds
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer. If you think something you have paid for is not as described, or does not work, email hello@sociologyzone.co.uk and we will put it right.
Availability and liability
We aim to keep the Site available at all times but cannot guarantee it will never be interrupted, for example for maintenance. Our materials support study and revision; they do not guarantee any exam result. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable when you made your purchase. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version that applies to a purchase is the one in place when you made it. Anything material will be flagged on this page, and the date below will change.
